Drewan Baird. Oudtshoorn. 28 May 2014.
16h50. The council approved the 2014/15 budget and IDP just after 15h00 by 13 votes to 12 after the speaker exercised his casting vote. The DA appeared, to informed observers, to have been somewhat disgruntled by the decision. And if, perhaps, not disgruntled, then not exactly gruntled.
06h40. With DA councillor Jurie Harmse removed by operation of law – at least until the DA’s urgent application to the contrary is heard by the WCHC on Tuesday next, 24 councillors will this afternoon at 15h00 deliberate on the 2014/15 budget.
The previous budget was reduced to a political weapon of mass distraction and eventually only approved some weeks ago.
Will the sandpit players rise today and act as responsible representatives of the people of Oudtshoorn, or will party and personal agendas yet again dominate?
O!O will be first with the news and the real happenings behind the scene.
The backstabbing and triple-crossing has started.
But, hey, this is Oudtshoorn. Freaky is the norm.
