Drewan Baird. Cape Town. 20 May 2014.

10h40. The matter has been postponed until a date in August. The municipality is demanding more than R1.1m from Nel, being the sum of the cost of the Nel v. Oudtshoorn Municipality and the cost, jointly and severally, by the Le Grange verdict.

A very nice little DA political strategy is evolving… All parties be aware!

07h55.The Oudtshoorn Municipality is bringing an application for the sequestration of DA councillor Pierre Nel before the Western Cape High Court this morning.

The application follows Nel’s failure to reimburse the municipality the cost of his action against the municipality relating to the Noël Pietersen matter.

Yesterday afternoon there were indications that the application may be opposed, but at this time it appears as if the matter will be on the unoposed roll.

Adv Jerome van der Schyff, who successfully acted for Pietersen in the criminal matter which was the apparent motivation for Nel’s action, appears for the ratepayers.

  1. If the municipality is successful Nel will have to vacate his position as councillor thanks to the DaCeivers.
