The DA’s problem is that it can’t count

Drewan Baird. Oudtshoorn. 24 March 2014. 09h10. “We are the majority”…
This wail has been upon us since the DA’s botched “take-over” on May 31 last year – 297 days ago; 68 days short of an entire year ago.
A “majority” decided to con ratepayers out of the Nel v. Oudtshoorn cost.
And the mephistophelean ANC tricked the poor sods out of their “right” to be a “majority” ever since.
Ag asseblief man.
That the entire DA leadership could not come up with a strategy to outwit the ANC for 297 days, means only one thing: The DA should not run a bath, let alone a town, a district, a province, and the pantheons forbid, a country.
I have never trusted to the so-called “DA majority”, and I have often said so.
You can have any number above 50% of any meeting, but if you fail to muster a majority in a no confidence vote, you demand not a majority. Period.
Very soon, me puts it to y’all, there will be only 1 DA councillor in the Oudtshoorn council. Ten are on borrowed time, courtesy of the operation of law; 1, Jurie Harmse, will in all probability, if the speaker acts consistently as he is wont to do, follow the same road to perdition.
Will the leadership still scream “majority”?
I, for one, think the leadership is dumb enough to do just that.
