The DA is losing it

Drewan Baird. Oudtshoorn. 6 January 2014. 14h00. I have had the misfortune of engaging DA’s over the holidays, and on twitter yesterday…
You can, in the right hand column, follow my twitter interaction with one @ALETTAHA (capitals is always a dead give-away) who summarily “blocked” me when I asked her to indicate that she might be a worthy debater.
It all started when a DA critic – @aperiozar – challenged @helenzille and was threatened with “blocking” by the DA leader.
@aperiozar tweeted @helenzille: “If that is a fair reflection of your commitment to open discussion and freedom of expression, go ahead Madam.”
I weighed in: “Hmmm… The DA and ‘yesmen’: BIG problem. BIG problem.”
@ALETTAHA could not stand this and some words flowed between us. I happened to mention Anton Bredell and the caucuses of Eden, Plett, and Oudtshoorn in support of my contention that the DA leader surrounds herself with proverbial “yes-men”.
@ALETTAHA said that @helenzille exposes herself to criticism – including severe criticism of @drewanbaird.
Yet @helenzille unfollowed @aperiozar; and @ALETTAHA blocked me.
Willem – a DA supporter writing on O!O under the assumed “Willem” – sms’d and mailed me in words to the following effect since after Christmas:
“Wanneer jy sulke kak argumente soos die opdis verdien jy om ‘n ‘fokof’ opmerking (an earlier such one!) te kry. Soos nou weer. Fokof jy praat kak!”
DA supporters appear to be stressed.
I tweeted @helenZille: “Helen, the DA can’t even manage Oudtshoorn; how in the name of the pantheons do you propose to run SA!?”
This remains a question I continue to hope may be answered some time soon.
Think about it… the DA leadership can not even trump the ANC-led coalition in Oudtshoorn, but it arrogates to unseat the ANC nationally, and provincially.
I’m beginning to think that Helen Zille is a major part of the problem.
I am told by an insider that he is aware of only one single apology Zille has ever made. She is always right. And the yes-men around her always concur. Only weak leaders are surrounded by yes-men.
This is scary stuff, that the DA is the alternative government.
