Drewan Baird. Oudtshoorn. 2 December 2013. 13h23. Harold Lekay just confirmed that he had no part whatsoever in any attempt to lay charges of rape against Ron Lottering and John Stoffels.
Drewan Baird. Oudtshoorn. 29 November 2013. 18h15. A false rape charge.
This is how low the DA managed to go today.
Shopping for a bit of breakfast after an early morning strategic session set to continue over bread and cheese and saporous Arabica, the news reached me… The DA, so local DA caucus leader Wessie van der Westhuizen crooned, had information that the speaker, John Stoffels, raped a woman from the Netherlands.
The rape apparently took place at the residence of the Municipal Manager, Ron Lottering.
A serious accusation.
A very serious accusation.
Two municipal advisors took charge of the incrimination.
Some four hours later and after uncomfortable inquiries mortifying the young lady, the charges were established to be patently false.
And then the despicable dénouement:
Known DA supporters Angeline Lekay, and husband Harold; and Pieter Ruiters and Jeremy Goliath who joined the DA spectacularly and publicly on May 31, allegedly attempted to lay a charge at the SAPD of repeated rape by Stoffels and Lottering.
So badly was the woman injured, the lie continued, that she had to be hospitalised. And she was, too, for personal reasons; delicate reasons. But DA agents provocateur trampled her personal circumstances and morphed it into a loathsome plot in some despicable attempt to discredit and ruin the speaker and the municipal manager.
This is just sick.
But it surprises me not in the least.
Certain other DA stalwarts were involved. They know who they are. No doubt that local harbinger of objective reporting, DA Hoorn, will soon reveal the identities.
The DA. Democratic Alliance. Yeah. Right.
Despicable Alliance rather.
Come on guys. Is this all you’ve got?
Lies, innuendo, suspiciousness?
Not a strategy, not a tactic, not a brain cell within a country mile.
Wessie van der Westhuizen told me minutes ago that he had no knowledge of this charge matter and had only heard a related rumour, but that any DA member suspected of behaviour that brings the party into disrepute will be subjected to a disciplinary process that may result in expulsion.
It remains notable that Wessie did refer to Lekay in his repoprting the “rumoured” information.
Considering what Pierre Nel and Ben van Wyk did to attempt to lift some R4.5m from ratepayers and what the DA is doing to them, Wessie’s assurances do not exactly inspire me to do wagon wheels on the lounge carpet. Also, it is quite possible that the attempted fraud of Nel and Van Wyk does not bring the DA into disrepute – this noisome behaviour, given the absence of disciplinary action, may well be construed to be a DA management norm. Like in some adumbrated “Rule Five”: Thou shall from time to time attempt to defraud ratepayers or be accosted with an overripe banana.
I am about to inform Oudtshoorn DA constituency chair Pat Wagenaar of the attempted rape charge. Let’s see what transpires.
Angeline Lekay did not answer her phone.
