The Harmse “Open Letter” exposed

Drewan Baird. Oudtshoorn. 9 November 2013. 11h15. Let’s face it: Only on O!O can an “Open Letter” be “exposed”.

Just on the off chance that there are still some political naïfs out there: “Politics” and “principles” can only appear in the same sentence – what am I saying, in the same document – when the context is to indicate that politics and principle are completely antithetical. Oblique. Diametric. Varient. Incompatible.

Let us be clear: Someone who earns some many thousands per month, as a Mayco member, and has no other prospect, by lack of education and ability, of gainful employment at even a fraction of such remuneration, will only abandon the high paying job if something better, or at least equal, is available. Unless, of course, the person is a rank idiot.

Jurie Harmse; Luiters and Ruiters; and Botha and Golliath abandoned the ANC on May 31 not because of principle, my longsuffering readers, but because they had no future in the ANC caucus… And because the DA promised them figs and chilled raisons (sic) and water abundant in their political dessert. Nothing realised. The promises were “political” – empty and devoid of even a velleity of probable, let alone possible, reification.

The Foolish Five were conned.

Pretty much like the “DA majority” since May 31 attempted to con you, the ratepayers, out of some R4.5m in legal fees due and payable by DA councillor Pierre Nel, and, or, other parties, such as the DA itself.

And let’s not attempt to argue the merits and demerits of this scandalous stab at swindling: DA Leader Helen Zille’s reaction says it all. And the comments of two High Court judges. And the pathetic attempts at justification by the perpetrators. It was, and remains to be, a sickening scam averted and exposed only because there are currently alert individuals on Verwoerd Square.

Did the DA promise the Five financial reward? Nobody’s talking but denying, abnegating, traversing, and obfuscating.

In the absence of DA promises – surely the virginal DA would never step this low !? – one must conclude that the communication process during negotiations for the support of the Five was flawed beyond recognition. Or, the Five are idiots. Unless, of course, and who am I to reject the possibility, the Five are the most principled politicians (oops) in all of recorded history.

Balla, Pieter Luiters, Stokkies, Hendrik Botha, and that Golliath chap… the most principled politicians (oops again) ever.

Yeah. Right.

I hear say that the next Chief Rabbi may be a Pentecostal Christian.

Which brings me to Balla’s letter – the “Open Letter” published in the Oudtshoorn Courant on November 1, and in Die Hoorn this Thursday last.

This week’s editions of the papers also carry a letter singing the “principled” demeanor of the Five.

Y’all have no doubt seen Balla’s letter. For those not yet exposed to the masterpiece in contradiction, the text is attached at the bottom.

What y’all haven’t seen, because it was not published, is the Speaker’s response.

I include it here as you should probably want to see it.

I happen to have extraordinary information about Harmse’s political “principles’ (oops yet again).

But even I am prepared to wait for the Speaker to make known his findings.

However, I’ll have you know, in the mean time, that Balla was “funded” last week by a municipal official. Just before he “penned” the “Open Letter”; just as he was, apparently, about to abandon the DA.

By the gods and faeries, and the Zabrak of Iridonia, and the Zeltron of Zeltros, and the Zhell of Coruscant (before 25,000 BBY – Before the Battle of Yavin) and the feline like Zygerrian slaver bipeds… if this is not an incubator, a seed-bed, a hatching-chamber for political putrefaction, the Pope is a Seventh Day Adventist.

This after cadging by Harmse’s political and religious associates for funding; and Balla’s mendicating in the halls of Verwoerd Square for a job for his son, for money to buy electricity and food. Because, said Balla, Anél (the DA’s excellent local organiser; the only able member they have, frankly) won’t provide any longer.

Indeed. The other DA councillors are known to be brewing about Balla’s continuous demands for money… and the DA’s willingness to provide even though Balla is yet again receiving a councillor’s salary. Balla’s “principles” must be maintained, to be sure!

Balla. The principled politician (oops).

Who dares doubt this “Christian Pastor” led in his political decision-making by… a Sangoma!?

Dankie Jurie Harmse”.

Yeah. Right.

Once again the people of Oudtshoorn has not been afforded all the facts.

Maybe all five should become local “pastors” – every other loser is one nowadays in any event. So the daffy can be funded by the diffy.

Jurie Harmse’s “Open Letter”…

Rld Jurie Harmse – Wyk 13
