Drewan Baird. Oudtshoorn. 19 September 2013. 19h15. Speaker John Stoffels ruled this afternoon that tomorrow’s Special Council Meeting will be closed to the public and the media after MM Ron Lottering received a letter from MEC for local government Anton Bredell about possible threats to disrupt the meeting.

The Speaker called a meeting of Chief Whips which supported the Speaker’s position.

Stoffels then instructed Lottering to reply to Bredell and confirm the steps to ensure that the Special Council Meeting not be disrupted.

Bredell also alerted Provincial Police Commissioner General Arno Lamoer.

  1. Ja U and the DA loots while everything seems fine like they are doing all over the Western Cape!

  2. Clearly the comraaaids can’t be trusted to keep order. They like disorder. In fact, they prefer disorder. In the chaos, they loot. That’s how the comraaaaids operate.

  3. this is another example of how the more things change, the more they stay the same. I say, open the frigin meeting and eject any trouble makers. this secrecy will only breed more discontent, not less and the fact that there are rumours of discontent does not mean that the meeting should be closed, it means that all is still not right and that essentially we are still at square ONE!
