Drewan Baird. Oudtshoorn. 17 June 2013. 07h30. The Foolish Five – Jurie Harmse; Jeremy Goliath; Hendrik Botha; Pieter Luiters; and Henrik Ruiters – travelled to Laingsburg this week-end for a regional DA conference… They travelled with Wessie van der Westhuizen.

I wrote Wessie last night:

Wessie

Ek hoop vorijirre nie jy eis S&T by Eden vir jou trip Laingsburg toe met die “Vrotsige Vyf” nie!

Hoe lank het die trip gevat teen 200kph?

En ek hoor die FEC wag vir jou…

See, Lennit Max spoke on discipline at the conference and announced that councillors’ disciplinary hearings will forthwith no longer be managed by the Provincial Executive Committee, but by the Federal Executive Committee.

FEC findings are final and may only be challenged in the High Court.

But the LRA forbids councillors to challenge the party in Court. And the Labour Court can not hear such an appeal.

Poor Wessie.

But I still predict the DA won’t act against him. Why would the DA leadership allow someone of Wessie’s pathetic political position to share a stage with the illustrious Theuns Botha, and be Executive Mayor of Eden, and be Caucus Leader of Oudtshoorn, and be the champion of “Save Oudtshoorn from the ANC” Campaign if the DA was about to sink Wessie.

Nope.

The DA says one thing and does another.

But we’ll see. Wessie’s disciplinary hearing starts tomorrow, Tuesday.

If the DA kicks Wessie out, I’ll be among the firsat to apologise to the party for my approach.

  1. “See, Lennit Max spoke on discipline at the conference and announced that councillors’ disciplinary hearings will forthwith no longer be managed by the Provincial Executive Committee, but by the Federal Executive Committee.”

You better check your info. Reading the Federal and Provincial Constitutions it is not possible to do so without changes to both.

In any event Wessie is safe from party discipline. The only thing that will get him in the end is if somebody in Eden lays the necessary CRIMINAL CHARGES and preferably ito the Prevention and Combatting of Corruption and Corrupt Activities Act.

Who does it in the end, the DA, ANC, NPP, ACDP, ICOSA, COPE will be an illustration of who is willing to put their anti-corruption-money where their anti-corruption-mouth is. My money is on Andrew.
