Sokopo VAT investigation result of O!O alerts
No holds barred in your face factual reporting
even of what you may not realise you should want to know
Your advertising is only as good as the people who see it – repeatedly!
You want to do business with O!O readers – people with money and control of corporate budgets.
And you want to reach them behind their desks, making decisions!
Oudtshoorn. 15 January 2013. 10h30. While the local DA “leadership” shunned O!O’s warnings on the Sokopo VAT recovery contract and the national and provincial DA functionaries ignored the warnings, SARS took notice and acted.
It was confirmed earlier today that the SARS investigation launched in November was the direct result of SARS agents reading about the Sokopo contract on O!O.
“Daar sou beslis geen ondersoek gewees het as u nie oor die saak berig het nie”, an informed source told O!O on condition of anonimity.
And only this morning, O!O complained to Yusuf Abramjee of CrimeLine and LeadSA that reports of maladministration lead to nothing.
Abramjee suggested escalation, which O!O is doing. A local attorney is also putting pressure on the SIU to act on the Febtuary 2011 report. This morning a particular DA MP was also alerted to the lethargy of the SIU.
Surely some relief for Oudtshoorn is forthcoming!?
Civil leaders will have to act; the politicians – and the councillors – will not effect action!
Anton Bredell, the Western Cape minister of local government, told the Weekend Argus in April that he was unaware of the Sokopo contract… While O!O alerted his office and the premier’s office of the VAT recovery scheme days earlier!
Rely not on the politicians, be they clad in DA or ANC T-shirts.
