Oudtshoorn. 4 October 2012.
06h30. I have had a good laugh at Mnyimba and I have no expectation that he will meet with me.
Mnyimba is not qualified to be Oudtshoorn’s municipal manager and if he had even a velleity of professional integrity he would have already vacated his office – especially as the High Court ruled him unqualified and the council fired him.
Yet yesterday’s humorous reaction by Mnyimba – that I am not man enough to speak to him face to face – and the resulting comedy reported below, is indicative of an alarming situation in local politics and administration:
Ignore the challenges from individuals who question actions by government and politicians and administrators.
I am banned from entering the municipal buildings.
I have to use innovative ways even to deliver emails to the politicians and managers in the municipality.
The DA caucus has taken a decision (!) to ignore me. The chairman of the constituency committee even told me that he needs not the decision, he ignores me by his own volition.
Donald Grant, the Bitou constituency head, told the local DA management that he had instructions not to speak to me.
The DA refuses to respond to legitimate questions about its actions in Bitou and its lethargy about Oudtshoorn.
Why not answer questions?
The obvious answer to this question is damning.
The ANC and the DA can not be trusted with the government of Oudtshoorn. No political party can because party people have to dance to party music.
Oudtshoorn can be saved and re-build only by independents in the council.
And what really gets me is the arrogance of politicians and administrators and managers that their positions somehow demands so-called “respect”.
If they don’t deliver, they can forget respect… from me.
Transparency would enhance the politico’s meagre standing.
It’s not as if I need their answers – I simply need their acknowledgement.
It is alarming to experience the well-nigh witch hunts by our representatives and employees in futile attempts to discover my sources.
Just about every time they accuse some poor innocent of “leaking” information that should be in the public domain in the first place.
I get my information from impeccable sources created and developed and maintained carefully.
By the time I ask questions I usually have the answers already – but the locals and the leaders must respond. Why would they not respond?
The answer to this one is probably obvious.
Oudtshoorn. 3 October 2012.
16h15. Mnyimba! Laughable!
At 14h40 I tried again:
“Why don’t you answer your phone, Mnyimba? You challenged me to speak to you face to face! Let’s meet!”
Then, at 15h30, I reported to the front desk at Verwoerd Sq for the second time today.
While the security guards, all smiles, tried to reach Amy Syvester, I sms’d Mnyimba:
“I’m in the foyer Mnyimba, keen to talk “face to face”! Where are you!?”
Amy told the security guard to tell me that the MM was not available.
I left, with a last sms to mnyimba:
“The MAN was in the foyer waiting for you Mnyimba! Where were you? Working late!?”
Mnyimba does not have the balls to answer my questions.
Exactly like Anton Bredell and James Selfe…
It should be as clear as a lightning bolt over Volmoed on a clear night, my dear readers: The ANC can not be trusted. Neither can the DA.
14h30. My latest sms to Mnyimba:
” You talk of being “a man” and “face to face” talking!? Be a man and see me, Mnyimba, or are you just all hot air!?”
All the poor bastards at Verwoerd Sq are doing “to engage me face to face” – they have not the crown jewels – is to attempt ways of preventing me from reaching them directly.
They are failing; my messages remain in their face. Unceasingly.
12h40. I have presented myself to the security reception at Verwoerd Sq to meet with Mnyimba face to face.
The security official called Amy Sylvester, Mnyimba’s PA, apparently still shell-shocked from a rather mismatched verbal battle with Angeline Lekay.
I was told that Amy would speak to mnyimba and call down to the front desk again.
A few minutes later Amy surprisingly confirmed that Mnyimba could not see me.
“Well”, I asked the security official, “when can the MM see me?”
Another call to Amy.
“Amy says she’ll call meneer…”
Hey, Mnyimba, I’m ready to meet you face to face anytime, anywhere.
I sent this sms a moment ago:
“Mnyimba! You wanted to see me – I’m waiting!”
12h05. I have had no response from Mnyimba.
I sms’d at 11h05 and at 11h48, the second one after a call mnyimba did not answer at 11h47.
I’m going to the municipality now to determine if Mnyimba will see me.
11h00. The illicit municipal manager, Thandekile Mnyimba, sms’d me this morning: “Why don’t you be man for a change Drewan?”
At 10h09 this morning, moments after I have posted my final report on April’s court appearance, I sms’d Mnyimba; director corporate serives Francois Human; and CFO Deon Lott:
“Who instructed Van der Walt Attorneys gentlemen? The municipality? You, Mnyimba? Do you know about this, Human? How about you, Lott!?”
At 10h18 Mnyimba replied:
“Why don’t you be man for a change Drewan? I was in court with you why not ask me face to face?”
I replied, at 10h26, as – had to finish a telephone conversation:
“Can I come see you!? Let me in the municipality and I’ll ask you a 1000 questions!! You hide from me and call on ME to be a man!? Can I come right now, Mnyimba!!?”
And then I telephoned Mnyimba. At 10h28. He did not answer any one of his two cell numbers.
At 10h29 I sms’d:
“You don’t answer any 1 of your 2 cell phones, Mnyimba! Talk to me!”
And at 10h39:
“Can I come see you, Mnyimba!?”
At 10h46 I spoke to Raylene Wagenaar in Mnyimba’s office.
The MM was busy with the agenda.
“Ek kan dit nie vir meneer sê nie.”
I’ll meet with Mnyimba any day of the week.
Remember, it is Mnyimba who has ordered me off the municipal campus! And now hje complains that I am not prepared to speak to him face to face!
I will arrive at Verwoerd Sq some time today.
Will Mnyimba see me!?
Watch this space!
