Drewan Baird. Oudtshoorn. 25 August 2012. 08h00. Clyde Avontuur, legal representative of the Honourable Executive Mayor of the Greater Oudtshoorn, Alderman Gordon April, encouraged Die Son, Oudtshoorn Courant, and Die Hoorn to publish details of the Equality Court settlement ordering me to apologise for disparaging remarks of April’s educational status.
The offending reference to April’s “beperkte formele skoolopleiding“, originally limited to OO readers, is now ringing out across Oudtshoorn and throughout the Western Cape.
Having apologised, I have only one word for “the Honourable Executive Mayor of the Greater Oudtshoorn”: Gotcha!
O, and thank you for the confirmation, Gordon!
Thank you also to the printed media for bringing the “beperkte formele skoolopleiding” of “The Honourable Executive Mayor” – a very important public matter – to the attention of most every man, woman and child in Oudtshoorn and the Western Cape.
It must be remembered that April’s venerable legal team initially declined to settle and that the settlement was drafted to my satisfaction, having removed also terms I was falsely accused of having used.
The settlement came about by my argument before Court that “gentlemen” can settle anything.
Said Madam Justice Elizabeth Baartman, “I’m inclined to agree with Mr Baird…”
Over and out.
