DBC July 25 Peter Roberts (then with the DA, then not, then whatever) was grilled for some 3 hours on Thursday, being the first DA witness, of three, in his disciplinary hearing. Then the DA closed its case, without calling any other witnesses. Written submissions are due at the end of August. What a joke! The DA is yanking its own chain. And there is no velleity of respect for the people of Oudtshoorn. Pierre Nel, himself on thin ice, will not have Roberts back in the fold; Roberts says he’ll never allow the current caucus to assume power in Oudtshoorn. The DA will get rid of Roberts only if and when it dawns on the DA that its current “secret negotiations” are neither secret, nor negotiations – the quality of negotiations is a function of the quality of the parties instructing negotiators… a fact the DA, of all parties, should know!
DBC July 25 Councillor Pierre Nel’s sequestration hearing is set down for August 14. After years of dedicated service to the residents and ratepayers of ward 2, and after being all but dragooned to be the “name” in Nel v. Oudtshoorn, and often derided by the very people who coerced him, Nel now stands alone at reckoning time. Someone’s paying for a, uh, defense, but not one, no one, not anyone served by Nel – friends of Nel – is stepping up to the plate to help carry the burden. The legal obligation can be shared by several ward 2 individuals on their own, and certainly, quite easily even, by a few. With friends like Nel’s I am ecstatic about the goodwill of my enemies. I can do without friends and supporters like it is Nel’s burden to endure. Wat ‘n fokkin skande. All the DA is doing is conniving, in its now well shamed embarrassing way, to take over the council in time to withdraw the sequestration application, and, of course, to withdraw the matters set down for August 4. That is, if the DA intends withdrawing the sequestration order, because I am of the opinion, considered as always, that the DA is only too glad that the “wilde honde” of the municipality are doing the DA’s dirty work for it. Unbloodyspeakable. Disgusting.
DBC July 18 The DA. They lie. They try to settle a caucus member’s personal legal debt. They disagree even about whether or not Oudtshoorn has a budget. But they want to govern Oudtshoorn. They could not take over the council on May 31 last year – WITH 5 (FIVE – FIVE!) ANC councillors supporting their effort. But they want to govern Oudtshoorn. It’s embarrassing.
